Projeto Vênus tem o prazer de anunciar a mostra Desvio, de Giulia Puntel, sua segunda exposição na Galeria, composta de novas pinturas em que a artista reinventa e expande seu vocabulário plástico de maneira audaciosa.
O inquietante na obra de Giulia Puntel revela-se numa arquitetura de planos movediços. São trabalhos que resistem e disputam a autoridade da figuração consolidada numa única narrativa tipicamente desejada pelo público. Nove pinturas que nascem de um ano de pesquisa no ateliê e que querem se despegar das paredes e dos suportes que a todo o tempo resistem a um lugar definido, um dentro e um fora. As perspectivas são quebradas e interrompidas, caminhos abertos e abruptamente fechados, todo ponto de vista definido é estilhaçado em múltiplas possibilidades.
Desvio é uma exposição em que a artista reinventa seu processo, questionando cada passo dos seus procedimentos e dos materiais utilizados, dos seus hábitos, desconstruindo as figuras conhecidas de sua pintura, desmontando chassis, repicando telas, usando os pincéis e as tintas apenas como mais uma ferramenta possível dentre tantas outras, introduzindo novas matérias e processos de colagens. Na mostra a artista materializa em telas uma reorganização da sua relação com a pintura, e de mulher com o mundo exterior, num longo diálogo interno de autoanálise.
Cada tela é a conclusão de um longo diálogo da artista com a obra, dentro de um jogo que ela mesma vai se impondo. Como magia, ou como uma alquimista, as pinturas de Desvio são tentativas de congelar o movimento incessante do pensamento por meio da forma, do contorno, das fronteiras do dentro e do fora, estabelecendo os limites do jogo. As histórias, ou as narrativas finais dessas telas estão nas marcas e nas cicatrizes, nas escolhas dos materiais diversos para as pinturas que se pegam na superfície, como látex, capachos, fios, panos de chão, ou mesmo telas antigas que foram retalhadas e recicladas aos pedaços como um indício de continuidade da obra.
Em Desvio, de dentro de seu ateliê lavanderia, localizado numa casa em Belo Horizonte, Giulia Puntel reconfigura as possibilidades da sua atividade como artista, permitindo no processo recolocar-se como pessoa em relação ao mundo. São pinturas que, em sua essência, retratam a vida com todas as ambiguidades dos nossos movimentos contraditórios, como nas entrelinhas das coisas ditas e não ditas de toda boa conversa. Um lugar onde revelações, muitas vezes obscuras, nos surpreendem, nos exaltam e nos machucam, mas mesmo sem conseguirmos compreender o todo, as marcas deixadas na superfície são o resultado final de quem somos para os outros, para fora de nós, além de serem as dores e alegrias que absorvemos para dentro do corpo ao qual estamos aprisionados.

Projeto Vênus is pleased to announce the exhibition Desvio, by Giulia Puntel, her second at the Gallery, made up of new paintings in which the artist boldly reinvents and expands her plastic vocabulary.
The unsettling aspect of Giulia Puntel’s work is revealed in an architecture of shifting planes. These are works that resist and dispute the authority of figuration consolidated in a single narrative typically desired by the public. Nine paintings originating from a year of research in the studio and that want to detach themselves from the walls and the supports that resist at all times a defined place, one inside and an outside. Perspectives are broken and interrupted, paths are opened and suddenly closed, every defined point of view is shattered into multiple possibilities.
Desvio is an exhibition in which the artist reinvents her process, questioning every step of her procedures and of the materials used, her habits, deconstructing the familiar figures of her painting, dismantling chassis, re-stretching canvases, using brushes and paints as just another possible tool among many others, introducing new materials and collage processes. In the show, the artist materializes on canvases a reorganization of her relationship with painting, and her relationship with the outside world, in a long internal dialogue of self-analysis.
Each canvas is the conclusion of a long dialog between the artist and the work, within a game that she imposes on herself. Like magic, or like an alchemist, Desvio’s paintings are attempts to freeze the incessant movement of thought by means of the form, the contour, the boundaries of inside and outside, establishing the limits of the game. The stories, or final narratives, of these canvases lie in the marks and scars, in the choice of different materials for the paintings that stick to the surface, such as latex, mats, threads, floor cloths, or even old canvases that have been shredded and recycled to pieces as a sign of the work’s ongoing existence.
In Desvio, from inside her laundry studio, located in a house in Belo Horizonte, Giulia Puntel reconfigures the possibilities of her activity as an artist, allowing her in the process to re-position herself as a person in relation to the world. These are paintings that, in essence, portray life with all the ambiguities of our contradictory movements, as if between the lines of things said and unsaid in every good conversation. A place where revelations, often obscure, surprise us, exalt us and hurt us, but even without being able to understand the whole, the marks left on the surface are the end result of who we are for others, outside of ourselves, as well as being the pain and joy we absorb into the body to which we are imprisoned.
