É com muita alegria que anunciamos a primeira individual da Giulia Puntel, Raio Verde, no Projeto Vênus.
Em suas 14 obras divididas entre pinturas, esculturas, vídeo e colagens, o que podemos observar é a persistência da pintura ponto de partida para a experimentação. A lógica alcança seu ponto no máximo no vídeo Caracol. Uma animação de 2 minutos 41 segundos, retratando uma espécie de dia na psicodelia, inteiramente criado em 42 folhas com 20 frames cada perfilando um total de 840 frames inteiramente pintados a óleo. Uma espécie de pintura em movimento que também podemos encontrar nas 4 esculturas que se parecem com estruturas do gesto obsessivo de enrolar arames com matérias como elásticos, papel machê, gessos etc que ligam diversas patas de tinta que insinuam um caminhar, ou melhor, elas praticamente rastejam pela galeria.
Finalmente, as pinturas em si. Nas de pequeno formato vemos colagens com materiais diversos que ora encobre a pintura como um véu em Presa, ora uma colagem de um simples isopor verde transforma a tela numa paisagem onde se vê o misterioso raio verde que dá título à exposição. Um certo humor se revela nos trabalhos. São telas criadas como se fossem brincadeiras científicas no microscópio. Já nas grandes telas o imperativo é a força do corpo explorando a potencialidade gestual do largo território da superfície. Um exercício cromático que flerta com figuras imaginárias que sugerem uma exteriorização do inconsciente.
Raio Verde é um mitológico fecho de luz esverdeada que supostamente vemos no último raio de sol, ou no primeiro, antes de respectivamente desaparecer ou surgir no mar. É nesse lugar de início e fim da marcação de tempo que com pinturas, esculturas e vídeo de animação, Giulia Puntel expande sua experimentação plástica em novos territórios onde a natureza e o artifício se encontram em um estado lírico de psicodelismo. Suas telas e esculturas são a concretização de pensamentos e sensações da artista diante da vida ritualizada no atelier. Em outras palavras, as obras são a materialização psicológica dos gestos realizados no estúdio a partir de suas vivências no mundo. O universo de gestos, de cores e de formas são conduzidos, ou traduzidos, não por uma racionalidade, mas por uma ética da artista diante de materiais ou modos de produção. Questões como figuração ou abstração estão mergulhadas na ambiguidade movediça do estado natural e artificial da arte.
It is with great joy that we announce Giulia Puntel’s first solo show, Raio Verde, at the Projeto Vênus.
In her 14 works divided among paintings, sculptures, video, and collages, what we can observe is the persistence of painting as a starting point for experimentation. The logic reaches its maximum point in the video Snail. An animation of 2 minutes 41 seconds, portraying a kind of day in psychedelia, entirely created in 42 sheets with 20 frames each, profiling a total of 840 frames entirely painted in oil. A kind of painting in movement that we can also find in the 4 sculptures that look like structures of the obsessive gesture of rolling wires with materials such as rubber bands, papier-mâché, plasters etc. that connect several legs of paint that imply a walk, or rather, they practically crawl through the gallery.
Finally, the paintings themselves. In the small format ones we see collages with various materials that sometimes cover the painting like a veil in Presa, and sometimes a collage of a simple green Styrofoam transforms the canvas into a landscape where we can see the mysterious green ray that gives the exhibition its title. A certain humor is revealed in the works. They are canvases created as if they were scientific jokes under a microscope. On the large canvases, the imperative is the strength of the body exploring the gestural potentiality of the surface’s wide territory. A chromatic exercise that flirts with imaginary figures that suggest an exteriorization of the unconscious.
Raio Verde (Green Ray) is a mythological closure of greenish light that we are supposed to see in the last ray of sunlight, or the first, before the sun respectively disappears or appears in the sea. It is in this place of beginning and end of time marking that with paintings, sculptures and animation video, Giulia Puntel expands her plastic experimentation into new territories where nature and artifice meet in a lyrical state of psychodelism. Her canvases and sculptures are the concretization of the artist’s thoughts and sensations when facing the ritualized life in the studio. In other words, the works are the psychological materialization of the gestures made in the studio from her experiences in the world. The universe of gestures, colors and forms are conducted, or translated, not by a rationality, but by the artist’s ethics towards materials or modes of production. Issues such as figuration or abstraction are immersed in the shifting ambiguity of the natural and artificial state of art.
